Anna L Comstock

Anna L. Comstock, 87, of Mt. Pleasant went home on Thursday, August 3, 2023, at the Parkview Care Center in Fairfield.

Anna was born on November 4, 1935, in Yarmouth, Iowa, the daughter of Grover and Mathilda (Brookhiser) Willson.    Anna was united in marriage to Donald William Carlan Comstock on July 5, 1955 at her parents’ home, rural Mt. Pleasant.  After 45 years of marriage, he preceded her in death on November 24, 2000.  Anna was known for her wonderful skills as a cook.  She cooked at various places but most recently at the VanVorhies Haus in Mt. Pleasant.  She had a great love for the country and enjoyed going for rides.  Anna enjoyed her crossword puzzles, playing cards, scrabble and was an avid Iowa Hawkeye Basketball fan.  Anna had a strong faith in her Lord and was a member of the Mt. Pleasant Open Bible Church.  She was a very loving, giving person and with a great sense of humor.  Anna will be deeply missed by all that knew her.

She is survived by her children, Donna (Kelvin) Strand, of Apex, North Carolina and Sara (Joe) Short of Mt. Pleasant, her grandchildren, Aaron (Jennifer) Comstock, Allison (Josh) Cody, Aimee Short, Carlan Strand and Katie (Matt) Howard, seven great grandchildren.

Anna was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, her son, Marvin and her 5 brothers, Francis, Grover, Ralph, Jim, Bill and 2 sisters, Lucille and Lois.

Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday, August 8, 2023, at 10 a.m. at the Mt. Pleasant Open Bible Church with Pastor Mike Johnson officiating.  The family will receive friends on Tuesday from 9 a.m. until time of service at the church.  A private family burial will be held in the Sheridan Cemetery rural Mt. Union following the service.  In lieu of flowers memorials may be directed to the Mt. Pleasant Open Bible Church.
