Arnold L. Nicholson 90 of Mt. Pleasant passed away on Sunday, April 29, 2007 at Park Place Long Term Care Center in Mt. Pleasant.
Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday, May 2, 2007 at 2:00 p.m. at Finley United Methodist Church with the Rev. Hyeunmee Kang officiating. Friends may call after 2 p.m. at the Beatty-Murphy Funeral Home of Mt. Pleasant on Tuesday, May 1 where the family will be present from 6 to 8 p.m. Memorial may be directed to the Finley United Methodist Church or to Great River Hospice.
Arnold was born on April 11, 1917, in rural Ainsworth, Iowa the son of James L. & Sylvia Marie Cook Nicholson. He was united in marriage to Edith E. Steele on October 14, 1937 at the Presbyterian Church in Muscatine, Iowa. He farmed in the Cotter Community until moving to the Finley Community in 1950. Upon retirement he moved to Mt. Pleasant. He was a member of the Finley United Methodist Church and had served on the Trenton School board. He was an outdoorsman enjoying fishing, and loved those Chicago Cubs.
He is survived by his children: Phyllis Nicholson and Richard Nicholson both of Mt. Pleasant and Kathleen Fox of Waxhaw, NC. 10 grandchildren, 25 great grandchildren and 4 great-great grandchildren. One brother Donald Nicholson of Washington, Iowa.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, one grand daughter and one great grandson.
