Carl Ingwersen Obituary

Carl L. Ingwersen, 87 of Mt. Pleasant passed away on Sunday, October 16, 2011, at Park Place Care Center in Mt. Pleasant.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, October 20, 2011 at the Trenton Missionary Church with Rev. David Forrester officiating. Burial will be in the White Oak Cemetery with full Military Honors conducted by the Henry County Honor Guard. Friends may call after 2 p.m. on Wednesday with the family present from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Murphy Funeral Home in Mt. Pleasant. Memorials may be directed to Great River Hospice his memory.

Carl was born on June 29, 1924, in Henry County the son of John J. & Mary E. Brownell Ingwersen. He was united in marriage to Erma Riley; she preceded him in death in 1965. He later married Betty Elaine Martin on August 16, 1966, in Trenton. He farmed the family farm for a year after he returned from the Army during WWII; he then went to work at Schafer Pen Company in Ft. Madison for 13 years, then to the Henry County Maintenance Department until he retired, after retirement he was the caretaker of the Swedesburg Cemetery for 17 years. He lived in Swedesburg from 1949 until they moved to Mt. Pleasant in 2009. He was a member of the Trenton Missionary Church.

He is survived by his wife of Mt. Pleasant, his children: Deborah Martin (Dan) of Hermitage, TN., Kendall Ingwersen (Lorraine) of Clive, Ted Ingwersen (Terri) of Central City and Tim Ingwersen (Amanda) of Coggon. 13 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren. One sister: Frances Campbell of Mt. Pleasant.

Carl was preceded in death by his first wife, Erma, one daughter: Linda, two brothers: Raymond and Harlan, one son-in-law: Randy.
