Cecil McDowell Obituary
Cecil O. McDowell 65 of Kingman Arizona and former Mt. Pleasant resident passed away on Friday, April 4, 2008, at his home in Kingman.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, April 12, 2008 at 11:00 a.m. at the Oakland Mills Community Church with Pastor Daryl Jessup officiating. Friends may call after 2 p.m. on Friday at the Murphy Funeral Home where the family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Burial will be in the Salem East Cemetery. A memorial has been established and may be left at the funeral home.
Cecil was born on January 30, 1943, in Mt. Pleasant the son of Ernest R. & Grace O. McVey McDowell. He graduated from Mt. Pleasant High School. He was united in marriage to Helene R. Bryant on March 31, 2008 in Kingman Arizona. He was the manager of the Stardust Limo Service in Laughlin Nevada. He always enjoyed racing cars and had raced his race car #29 in the Gardena California at Ascot Speedway, Phoenix Arizona at Manzanita Speedway and in Mexico on various tracks. Cecil was also involved with the Teamsters Union where he was recognized for traveling over a million miles across the United States.
He is survived by his wife Helene of Kingman Arizona. His children: Matt McDowell and his wife Carrie and Melissa McDowell both of Rome, IA, 4 grand-children, and one brother: Arlo McDowell and his wife Madeline of Windsor Heights and two sisters: Opal Haviland and her husband Charles of Ottumwa, and Hazel Carter and her husband Joe of Vienna, Virginia. His aunt Marge (McDowell) Smith of Salem.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers Ralph and Marlo.
