Charles W. Ganka 51, of Minneapolis, Minnesota and formerly of Mt. Pleasant passed away on Tuesday, May 29, 2012, at the Hennepin County Medical Center in Minneapolis.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, June 2, 2012, at 11:00 a.m. at the Murphy Funeral Home in Mt. Pleasant with Rev. David Forrester officiating. The family will receive friends from 10 until service time on Saturday at the funeral home. Burial with full Military Honors conducted by the Henry County Honor Guard will be in the Forest Home Cemetery in Mt. Pleasant. In lieu of flowers memorial may be directed to Huntington's chorea Research.
Charles was born on April 24, 1961, in Rock Island, Illinois the son of Garth & Patricia Woodworth Ganka. He graduated from Mt. Pleasant High School in the class of 1979 after his graduation he joined the United States Marine Corps serving from 1979 to 1983 and was stationed in Hawaii. He was employed in the painting business, he enjoyed biking, walking, going to the pool, reading, and his cat Dragon.
Charles is survived by his father and stepmother Garth & Kathy Ganka of Mt. Pleasant, his brother: Bradley (Bernice) Ganka of Kingsland Georgia, his sister Lisa (Ken) Ganka of Corbin Kentucky, several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his mother, and his sister Julie Lynn Heusel.
