D. Ritter Obituary
Helen Ritter 94 of Mt. Pleasant passed away on Monday, November 24, 2008, at Park Place in Mt. Pleasant.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, November 28, 2008 at 10:00 a.m. at the St. Alphonsus Catholic Church in Mt. Pleasant with Father Joseph Phung officiating. The family will receive friends from 9:00 a.m. until service time on Friday at the church. Private family burial will be in the St. Alphonsus Catholic Church Cemetery. Memorials have been established to the St. Alphonsus Catholic Church or to Hospice of Central Iowa in her memory.
Helen was born on March 18, 1914 in Potosi Missouri the daughter of Edward & Mary Gilliam Bub. On August 31, 1940 in De Soto. Missouri she was united in marriage to James V. Ritter. She was a telephone operator for 16 years in De Soto, Missouri. and was Welcome Wagon Hostess for a number of years in Mt. Pleasant. She was a member of St. Alphonsus Catholic Church of Mt. Pleasant, Altar & Rosary Society, Daughters of Isabella, Women's Club and American Legion Auxiliary. Helen worked in the Hospital Gift Shop. She enjoyed playing bridge, and was known for her blue ribbon irises.
She is survived by her children: Sister Mary Jo Ritter and Larry Ritter both of St. Louis and Mick Ritter of Ft. Madison and Cy Ritter of Kansas City, Missouri. Eight grandchildren and three great grandchildren.
Helen was preceded in death by her parents, husband, four brothers and two sisters.
