Dale Willis Obituary

Dale R. Willis 76 of rural Mt. Pleasant and of the Lockridge community passed away on Saturday, January 26, 2008, at his home.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, January 30, 2008 at 10:00 a.m. at Faith Christian Outreach Church in Mt. Pleasant with Rev. Monte Knudson and Pastor Mike Furlong officiating. Burial will be in the Grant Cemetery at Rome, Iowa, with full military honors. Friends may call after 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday at the Murphy Funeral Home in Mt. Pleasant where the family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. A memorial has been established and may be left at the funeral home.

Dale was born on February 26, 1931, in Henry County the son of Thomas McKinley & Lena Watson Willis. He was united in marriage to Patricia Millspaugh on December 27, 1951 in Mt. Pleasant. Dale served in the Air Force for 23 years retiring as a Chief Master Sergeant. He worked for Waters Implement and later at The Company until his retirement. Dale was a member of the Mt. Pleasant Moose where he served as the administrator and governor for a number of years, he also was a member of the Faith Christian Outreach Church and the VFW all of Mt. Pleasant. He enjoyed working on engines and spending time with his family.

He is survived by his children: Cheryl L. Brady of Fairbanks, Alaska, Terrie L. Howell of Mt. Pleasant, Roberta D. Furlong of Calif. and William T. Willis of Mt. Pleasant. 13 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren. One sister: Helen Moehle of Stockport.

Dale was preceded in death by his parents, his wife in 2007, one sister infancy Hazel Irene and one niece Susan.
