Darlene Christner Obituary

Darlene M. Christner 90, of Mt. Pleasant passed away on Sunday, January 27, 2013, at Park Place Elder Living in Mt. Pleasant.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, January 31, 2013, at 10:30 a.m. at the Murphy Funeral Home in Mt. Pleasant with Rev. Herb Shafer officiating. Friends may call after 2 p.m. on Wednesday at the Murphy Funeral Home where the family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Burial will be in the White Oak Cemetery rural Rome. A memorial has been established to the White Oak Cemetery in her memory.

Darlene was born on December 28, 1922, in Jefferson County, Iowa the daughter of Alva & Grace Mulnix Hendricks. She was united in marriage to Dale Christner on April 9, 1938, in Jefferson County. She helped her husband on the family farm, she enjoyed traveling and camping. Darlene also enjoyed quilting, square dancing, taking vacations to Branson, and she and her husband helped with the Trolley at Midwest Old Thrashers. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Mt. Pleasant.

She is survived by her children; Ronald Christner of Wayland, Missouri, Arnold (Billie) Christner of Rifle, Colorado, Gene (Sandy) Christner of Mt. Pleasant, Mary (George) Parker of New London, Sherry (Harold) Grant of Wayland, Iowa, and Michael Christner of Riverside, Iowa; 20 grandchildren; 30 great grandchildren and several great-great grandchildren.

Darlene was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, one daughter Wanda Ridinger; three grandchildren; Shawn, Kurt and Sondra; five brothers and two sisters.
