Darlene Magdefrau Obituary

Darlene K. Magdefrau 73 of Mt. Pleasant passed away on Saturday, June 23, 2007 at the New London Nursing and Rehab Center in New London.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, June 27, 2007 at 10:30 a.m. at the New London United Methodist Church with the Rev. Dot Hasler officiating. Burial will be in the Cottonwood Cemetery at Wayland. Friends may call after 2 p.m. on Tuesday at the Beatty-Murphy Funeral Home of Mt. Pleasant where the family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Memorials may be directed to the Cottonwood United Methodist Church or to the American Cancer Society.

Darlene was born on July 8, 1933, in Keokuk County, the daughter of Henry E. & Mazie W. Horning Manning. She was united in marriage to Bob Magdefrau on November 23, 1957 at Washington, Iowa. She had worked in housekeeping at the Henry County Health Center, Mapleleaf Nursing Home and had done home care for a few years and had worked at Jerry's Restaurant and the Cozy Café. She had done housecleaning for many people in the Mt. Pleasant area. She was a member of the United Methodist Church of New London.

She is survived by her children: Bob of New London, Peggy Hickenbottom of Mt. Pleasant and Diana Magdefrau of Mt. Union. 4 grandchildren: Alex, Adam, Blayne and Hannah. One brother Earl (Bud) Manning of Mt. Pleasant and six sisters: Mary Ann Dupree and Barbara Schenk both of Mt. Pleasant, Lucille Hudson of Hillsboro, Charlene Ragan of Oxnard CA, Kay Carey and Frances Magdefrau both of Washington.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, one son Mike and one brother James.
