David Brombaugh Obituary

David Glenn Brombaugh 89, of Keosauqua passed away on Sunday, February 2, 2014, in the emergency room at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City.

Graveside services will be held on Friday, February 7, 2014, at 2:00 p.m. at the Hillsboro Cemetery in Hillsboro. Friends may call from noon to 7:00 p.m. on Thursday at the Murphy Funeral Home in Mt. Pleasant. A memorial has been established in his memory.

He was born December 7, 1924 to Glenn and Marie Newman Brombaugh in Bonaparte, Iowa. He married Helen Lorraine Cierle. They had two children Linda Dawson and Jerry Brombaugh. They later divorced. He then married Erma Davis Dick August 13, 1967. She preceded him in death December 13, 1998.

David spent most of his life working as a farm hand in the rural Bonaparte area. After retiring he and his wife moved to her family home in Hillsboro. He was an avid outdoorsman and continued to hunt and fish into his later years. He also had a passion for woodworking and often made items for family or friends. After his wife's passing he moved to Farmington only to return to rural Hillsboro where he was happiest. He had just recently moved to Country Lane Apts. to be nearer to his son.

David is survived by his son; Jerry (Penny) Brombaugh, Keosauqua, Iowa; 10 grandchildren Amy Rysdam, Milton, Iowa; David Brombaugh, Stockport, Iowa; Angie Engle, Waukee, Iowa; Cassandra (Donald) Spencer, Grants, New Mexico; Tammy Upton, Rodney Shaw, Debbie (Lee) Poulson, Billie Jo Crouch of Galesburg, Illinois; Lisa Robinson, Creve Coeur, Illinois; Dawn (Robert) Reining, Knoxville, Illinois. He also has 31 great-grandchildren and 7 great-great-grandchildren, along with several nieces, nephews, family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, 4 sisters: Clysta Hite, Ethel Graves, Mary Stuart and Virginia Brombaugh; 4 brothers Gene, Stanley, James and Gary Brombaugh; his daughter Linda Dawson and a daughter-in-law Maxine Brombaugh.
