Donald Eugene Hamm, 66 of Sioux City and former area resident passed away on Wednesday, March 3, 2010, at the Embassy Rehab & Care Center in Sergeant Bluff, Iowa.
Memorial services will be held on Saturday, May 15th at 10:30 a.m. at the Murphy Funeral Home in Mt. Pleasant with Pastor Bob Hamm officiating. Burial will be in Salem South Cemetery. In lieu of flowers a memorial has been established in his memory.
Don was born on June 22, 1943 in Mt. Pleasant the son of Jay & Velma Stutzman Hamm. He was raised in the Salem area until moving to Mt. Pleasant where he graduated from Mt. Pleasant High School. He moved to Sioux City where he was united in marriage to Cheryl Maxfield Harling on September 28, 1985. They made there home in Sioux City, where Don worked as a salesman for Drummond American Corporation until August of 2004, retiring due to his health. He was a musician and played locally in many country bands, playing guitar and was a lead singer. Don enjoyed spending time with his family, cooking, woodworking and fishing.
Don is survived by his wife, a daughter Christy Robinson (Brad) of Sergeant Bluff, three sons Todd "Gig" Harling (Natali), Jay Hamm and Ricky Hamm all of Sioux City. Six grandchildren. Two brothers, Art Hamm (Bev) of Winfield and Bob Hamm (Judy) of Dixon, Missouri; nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one son James "Duce" Harling.
