Donald McCarty Obituary
Donald F. McCarty Sr. 76, of Salem passed away at his home on Sunday. May 5, 2013.
Graveside services will be held on Thursday, May 9, 2013, at 11:00 a.m. at the Salem South Cemetery in Salem with Rev. Aaron Helterbran officiating. Burial will be the Salem South Cemetery. Friends may call after 2 p.m. on Wednesday at the Murphy Funeral Home in Mt. Pleasant where the family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers a memorial has been established in his memory.
Donald was born on November 25, 1936, in Argyle, Iowa the son of Floyd & Anna Huffman McCarty. He was united in marriage to Doris Smith on August 9, 1975, at the Lockridge Baptist Church in Lockridge. He retired from Heatilator of Mt. Pleasant in 1993. He enjoyed camping, fishing, working on cars and crafting.
He is survived by his wife Doris of Salem; his son Donald McCarty Jr. of Salem and his daughter Tandee Moore of Perryville, Missouri. 9 grandchildren; Tina, Michael, Nami, James, Giorgio, Talun, Tai, Ashley and Shane; 5 great grandchildren: Caleb, Dakota, Kyle, Natalya and Lerik. Three brothers: Kenneth McCarty of Lockridge, Melvin McCarty of Texas and Mike McCarty of California, and three sisters; Virginia Savage of Albia, Ruthie Strickland and Carolyn McCarty both of California, several half brothers and sisters.
Donald was preceded in death by his parents, two grandsons; Daniel and Jason, his first wife Sherry Wright and one sister Lois Roe.
