Doris H. Ford 92, of Mt. Pleasant passed away on Thursday, October 16, 2014, at Pleasant Manor Care Center in Mt. Pleasant.
Graveside services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, October 20, 2014, at the Forest Home Cemetery in Mt. Pleasant with Rev. Earl Swigart officiating. There will be no visitation at the Murphy Funeral Home. A memorial has been established in her memory.
Doris was born on September 10, 1922, at Fountain Green, Illinois the daughter of A.P. & Ethel Robinson Simmons. She was later adopted and raised by Manzelle & Mildred Lawler. She was united in marriage to Harvey LeRoy Ford on September 12, 1945, at Galesburg, Illinois and he preceded her in death on June 29, 1987. Doris was a retired Registered Nurse and had worked at the Henry County Health Center, and was a member of the Henry County Nurse's Association. She liked to volunteer at Midwest Old Threshers Nurses Tent, and enjoyed collecting owls and crocheting.
Doris is survived by her children: Marlin Ford (Eva) and Stanley Ford (Sandy) both of Mt. Pleasant and Tammy Tallent (Joseph) of Carpentersville, Illinois; seven grandchildren and five great grandchildren along with several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, one son Manzelle, grandson Branden and her brother Jim.
