Doris Garretson Obituary
Doris D. Garretson 88, of Cedar Rapids formerly of Salem passed away on Tuesday, October 25, 2011, at St. Luke's Hospital in Cedar Rapids.
Memorial services will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Friday, October 28, 2011 at the Murphy Funeral Home in Mt. Pleasant with Rev. Tom Capo officiating. A memorial has been established to the Salem Public Library in her memory.
Doris was born on September 2, 1923 in Henry County the daughter of Sumner Dilts & Florence Dee White Garretson. She received her Master's Degree in Social Work from the University of Iowa. She was a member of the People's Church Unitarian Universal in Cedar Rapids. She truly loved Iowa and her ancestors land.
She is survived by her daughter Loree Dee of Marion, three grandchildren, nine great grandchildren and her daughter-in-law Jan Gill.
Doris was preceded in death by her parents, her son Kenton and her brothers and sisters: Wayne Garretson, Loren Garretson, Wilma Wilmeth, Wendell Garretson and Keith Garretson.
