Dorothy Lange Obituary

Dorothy M. Lange, 82, of Chariton and former area resident passed away on Monday, September 14, 2015, at the Chariton Nursing and Rehab Center in Chariton.

Memorial services will be held on Saturday, September 26, 2015, at 10:30 a.m. at the First Augustana Lutheran Church in Lockridge with Rev. Gloria Friedrich officiating. The family will receive friends at the church from 10:00 a.m. until service time on Saturday. Burial will be in the Forest Home Cemetery in Mt. Pleasant. Memorials may be directed to the First Augustana Lutheran Church of Lockridge.

Dorothy was born on August 21, 1933, in Audubon County, Iowa the daughter of Lawrence & Anna Porsch Petersen. On February 25, 1950, she was united in marriage to Ross V. Lange in Atlantic Iowa; he preceded her in death on January 2, 2013. To this union four children were born, Linda Paulette, Donald Eugene, Randall Lee and Scott Brian. Ross and Dorothy moved to Fort Dodge, where Dorothy worked as a CNA at Friendship Manor. The family later moved to Clarke County, from there they moved to Adair County and after retirement they moved Mt. Pleasant. Dorothy had worked at various nursing homes throughout her life. She was a member of the First Augustana Lutheran Church in Lockridge.

She is survived by her children; one daughter, Linda Schilling and her husband Dr. Tom Schilling of Corydon, Iowa, three sons, Donald Lange and his wife Marcia of Osceola, Iowa, Randall Lange of Des. Moines, Iowa and Scott Lange and his wife Sandra of Mt. Pleasant, Iowa. Six grandchildren, Eric Lange and wife Kris of Osceola, Erin Berentschot and husband Chad of Inwood, Kyle Lange and his wife Jessica of Osceola, Justin Lange and his wife Chasity of Mt. Pleasant, Todd Schilling and his wife Crystal of Hampshire, IL, and Crystal Even and her husband Dr. John Even of Iowa City, fourteen great-grandchildren and her sister-in-law JoAnn Petersen of Manning.

Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents, her husband and brother Ivan Petersen.
