Dorothy Settles Obituary
Dorothy L. Settles 88 of Mt. Pleasant passed away on Monday, September 22, 2014, at Arbor Court in Mt. Pleasant.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, September 27, 2014, at 2 p.m. at the Church of the Open Bible in Mt. Pleasant with Rev. Mike Johnson officiating. Burial will be in the Pleasant Hill Cemetery. Friends may call after 2 p.m. on Friday at the Murphy Funeral Home where the family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Memorials may be directed to the Church of the Open Bible in her memory.
Dorothy was born on August 4, 1926, in Macomb, Illinois the daughter of Gustof A. & Hazel D. Knight Hvarven. She was united in marriage to Leslie L. Settles on February 12, 1950, in Macomb and he preceded her in death on July 7, 2001. Dorothy was a homemaker, enjoyed fishing and old movies. She was a member of the Church of the Open Bible.
She is survived by her children: Randy Settles (Martha) of Mt. Pleasant and Alan Settles (Carrie) of Muskogee, Oklahoma, ten grandchildren; nine great grandchildren; one brother: Claire Varven of California.
Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and one grandson, two brothers: Dale and Bill.
