Dwight Ridinger 73, of Mt. Pleasant passed away on Tuesday, January 24, 2012, at the Mercy Hospital Hospice Unit in Iowa City.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, January 28, 2012, at 2:00 p.m. at the First United Methodist Church in Mt. Pleasant with Rev. Herb Shafer officiating. Friends may call from 1 to 7 p.m. on Friday at the Murphy Funeral Home in Mt. Pleasant. Memorials may be directed to the Ronald McDonald House and to the Henry County Ambulance Service in his memory. According to his wishes following the service his body will be cremated and burial will be in the Trinity Cemetery at a later date.
Dwight was born on August 14, 1938, near Trenton, the son of Glen R. & Leota M. Lyon Ridinger. He was united in marriage to Marilyn Allen on April 6, 1958. He farmed north of Mt. Pleasant, enjoyed fishing, classic cars, woodworking and playing cards. He was a member of the Farm Bureau and the First United Methodist Church of Mt. Pleasant.
He is survived by his wife: Marilyn of Mt. Pleasant, two children: Curtis (Renee) Ridinger and Coleen (Darrell) Mullin all of Mt.Pleasant; four grandsons: Derek (Tina) Mullin, Jason (Tara) Mullin, Duston (Sarah) Ridinger and Brandon (Kate) Ridinger; four great grandchildren; Miranda Ridinger, Caden Mullin, Carly Mullin and Charlize Mullin, his brother-in-law and sister-in-law Bob & Nona Lee along with several nieces and nephews.
Dwight was preceded in death by his parents, and an infant brother Donald.
