Edith Nicholson Obituary

Edith E. Nicholson, 87 of Mt. Pleasant passed away on Saturday, August 19, 2006, at Park Place Long Term Care Center.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, August 26, 2006, from the Finley Chapel United Methodist Church rural Mt. Pleasant. Rev. Hyeunmee Kang will officiate the service. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Friends may call after noon on Friday, August 25, 2006 at the Beatty-Murphy Funeral Home where the family will be present from 6 to 8 p.m. Memorials may be directed to the Hospice of Central Iowa or to the Finley Chapel in her memory.

Edith was born in Washington County on January 14, 1919, the daughter of Ray & Elsie Wingler Steele. She attended country schools in Washington County and graduated from the Carson School. She was united in marriage to Arnold Nicholson on October 14, 1937 in Muscatine, Iowa. She and her husband farmed in the Finley community for many years before moving to Mt. Pleasant. She was a member of the Finley Chapel United Methodist Church.

She is survived by her husband Arnold of Mt. Pleasant, her children: Phyllis Nicholson and Richard Nicholson both of Mt. Pleasant, and Kathy Fox of Waxhaw N.C. 10 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great-grandchildren. Her brother Harold Steele of Wayland, and her sisters Wilma Beauregard of Washington, and Betty Eash of Cedar Rapids.

She was preceded in death by her parents, 1 grand daughter and 1 great grandson, and 1 sister Luvenia Kaufman Caviggia.
