Edward Eugene Conwell

Edward Eugene Conwell, 78, of Mount Pleasant passed from this life on Monday, May 19, 2025.

 Ed was born on October 11, 1946, in Kansas City, Missouri, the son of Edward Bell and Edith Marie (Brown) Conwell, Jr. He graduated from high school in Kansas City and later went on to graduate from Brigham Young University, Provo, Utah. Ed was united in marriage to Joy Lynn Ferguson on June 13, 1974, at Logan, Utah, and was blessed with two children, Kathleen Joy and Edward Eugene Jr.  They were married 47 years before Joy passed away on October 25, 2021.

 Ed served on the Mount Pleasant School Board, a Scout Master for Boys of America and was a substitute teacher for a number of years.  Most of all his church was his life and meant so much to him.  He was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, serving in many capacities in the church such as Bishop and Branch President. 

 Those thankful for sharing in his life include his son, Ed Jr., his sisters, Zella Altman, and Shirley Alder, along with several nieces and nephews and a host of friends.

 He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Joy, his daughter, Kathleen Joy Conwell and his brother, in infancy, Russell Lee Conwell.

 Funeral Services will be held on Thursday, May 29, 2025, at 10:30 a.m. at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 1100 Palm Ave, Mount Pleasant, Iowa. Presiding at the service will be Jorge Sanchez, branch president. Burial will follow the service in Forest Home Cemetery. Friends may call after 2 p.m. on Wednesday, at the Murphy Funeral Home of Mount Pleasant where the family will be present from 4 to 7 p.m. that evening. A memorial has been established in his memory.
