Elke Hart Obituary

Elke Hart, age 65, died peacefully surrounded by her loved ones on Saturday, November 21, 2009, at her home.

Memorial services will be held on Saturday, November 28th at 2 p.m. from the First Baptist Church in Mt. Pleasant with Chaplain Harold Schutte officiating. Burial will be in the Grant Cemetery at a later date. Friends may call after 2 p.m. on Friday, November 27th at the Murphy Funeral Home where the family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. In lieu of flowers memorials maybe directed to the American Cancer Research Foundation.

Elke Andresen Hart was born to Bernhard and Kate Irma Andresen in Nordstrand, Germany on June 2, 1944. Elke attended school in Germany then in the United States at Star School, Pleasant Point School, and Mt. Pleasant Community Schools. She married Ronnie W. Hart at her parents Route 3 farmhouse on February 12, 1961. They made their homes in Mt. Pleasant, Trenton, Oakland Mills, Rome, and in Tucson, Arizona for 7 years. They raised 3 daughters, Lisa Hart, Lori (Shawn) Elder, and Shelly (Kelly) Scarff, all of the Mt. Pleasant. Also surviving Mrs. Hart are her parents, sisters; Anita (Leo) Hill, Edie (Dennis) Ford, and Ingi (John) McDowell, all of Mt. Pleasant. Elke is grandmother to Taylor and Lexy McLeland, Micky and Miah Manning, Hallie Elder, and Drew and Dusty Scarff.

Elke loved Sundays with her family, playing cards, crafting, raising flowers, fishing, knitting, crocheting, baking/cake decorating, her friends and her farm. She was a talented seamstress, poet and artist in many mediums. She enjoyed helping people and was very social.

Elke was preceded in death by her son Randall William.
