ElvaLee Welcher Obituary
ElvaLee Welcher, 86, of Gladstone, Illinois and formerly of Mt. Pleasant passed away on Thursday, May 17, 2012, at the Henry County Health Center.
The family will receive friends on Monday, May 21, 2012, from 10 to 11 a.m. at the Murphy Funeral Home in Mt. Pleasant. According to her wishes her body has been cremated. A memorial has been established in her memory.
Elva was born on February 5, 1926, at Mt. Union, Iowa the daughter of Lee & Elizabeth Swan Jones. She was united in marriage to Eugene L. Welcher on April 9, 1946, at the Great Lakes Navy Base in Chicago; he preceded her in death on April 3, 2012. She worked at the Iowa Army Ammunition Plant in Middleton for 38 years. She was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary, and enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren.
She is survived by her sons: Terry "Herman" Welcher of Lowell, Danny "Boone" Welcher of Mt. Pleasant, Tommy "Doc" Welcher of Rome and David Welcher of Gladstone. 8 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death her parents, her husband, her sister: Jeanne Cook and her brother: Walker Jones.
