Emma Allender Obituary
Emma M. Allender, 102 of Mt. Pleasant passed away on Saturday, August 19, 2006 at her home.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, August 23, 2006 at 10:30 a.m. at the Beatty-Murphy Funeral Home in Mt. Pleasant. Burial will be in Forest Home Cemetery in Mt. Pleasant. Friends may beginning at 1:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. with the family present from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home. A memorial has been established to the Henry County Animal Rescue Organization.
Emma was born on October 7, 1903, at Wayland, Iowa the daughter of John & Nellie Bain Schroll. She was united in marriage to Elmer B. Allender on September 6, 1928, at Leon, Iowa. She helped her husband on the farm, worked at Schaeffer Pen in Ft. Madison, then later at Iowa Wesleyan College until she retired at the age of 80.
She is survived by her son Wesley Allender and his wife Ila of Mt. Pleasant, 4 grandchildren: Debbie Williams, Garry Allender, Michael Allender and Diane Allender. 6 great grandchildren and 10 great-great grandchildren. Her sister Nelle Vandersnick of Mt. Pleasant.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, 2 brothers, Espy and Alfred Schroll and 1 sister, Goldie Christner.
