Ethel Carlson Obituary
Ethel M. Carlson 83 of Mt. Pleasant passed away on Tuesday, July 14, 2009 at the Henry County Health Center in Mt. Pleasant.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, July 18, 2009 at 1:30 p.m. from the Murphy Funeral Home in Mt. Pleasant with Rev. Don Coffin officiating. Friends may call after 2 p.m. on Friday July 17th at the funeral home where the family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Burial will be in the Forest Home Cemetery in Mt. Pleasant. A memorial has been established in her memory.
Ethel was born on June 25, 1926, at Mediapolis, Iowa the daughter of Harvey & Martha Steffener Starman. She attended Mediapolis High School, and was united in marriage to Ralph Edward Carlson on November 23, 1944 in Burlington, Iowa. She worked at various factories those including Metromail of Mt. Pleasant for 15 yrs; she and her husband delieverd the Mt. Pleasant Shopper for a number of years, she also helped on the farm. Ethel enjoyed collecting rocks, different figurines, gardening and her flowers.
She is survived by her son Sammy Carlson and his wife Margaret of Mt. Pleasant, three grandchildren: Byron, Teena and Elliott, three great grandchildren: Tyler, Rylee and Cody, four brothers: Bob Starman, Dale Starman, Dennis Starman and David Starman, two sisters: Carol Burk and Edna Poggemiller.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and two sisters: Norma Pressley and Doris Hurley, six brothers: Bill Starman, Don Starman, Gary Starman, Jim Starman, Harvey Starman and Kenny Starman.
