Evelyn Craycraft Obituary
Evelyn Ruth Craycraft, 91, died Sunday, Sept. 19, 2010 at Sunrise Terrace Care Center in Winfield, Ia.
She was born January 29, 1919 in Good Hope, Ill. the daughter of Thomas and Eva Scanland. Evelyn graduated from Good Hope High School in 1937. She was united in marriage to Charles S. Melvin on Oct 8, 1938, and from their love four daughters were born. Charles died on Sept. 28, 1956, after his death Evelyn married William Craycraft in 1961 and he died in 1966.
Evelyn worked for the McDonough District Hospital for fifteen yrs. Becoming bored with retirement, she then worked at the Everly House for 15 years retiring at the beautiful age of 86.
Evelyn came to live at Sunrise Terrace in March 2010. Oh, what joy she brought with her and oh, what LOVE she received there! It certainly was a gift to her from God!
She is survived by two daughters, Peggy Egbert and husband Larry of Richland, Debbie Anne Melvin, Rockford, Ill, five grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by two daughters, two sisters, and three brothers.
A memorial service will be held on Sat. Sept 25, 2010, at 3:00 p.m. at the Walnut Grove United Methodist Church at Prairie City, Illinois. A celebration of life service will be held at a later date at Sunrise Terrace Care Center.
Memorials may be directed to the Sunrise Terrace Care Center in her memory.
