Evelyn Eoleen Hodges 89 of Salem passed away on Sunday, March 1, 2009 at her home in Salem.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, March 4, 2009 at 10:30 a.m. at the Salem Congregational Church in Salem with Rev. Harold Dorsey officiating. Burial will be in the Salem East Cemetery. Friends may call after 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday at the Murphy Funeral Home in Mt. Pleasant where the family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. A memorial has been established to the Salem Congregational Church in her memory.
Eoleen was born on April 2, 1919, at her parents home in Missouri the daughter of Jim & Lulu Calvin McCort. She attended school at Ballard south of Kahoka, Missouri. She was united in marriage to Samuel Lewis Hodges on November 21, 1937 in Kahoka, Missouri. She was a member of the Salem Congregational Church.
She is survived by her children: Maurice Hodges and his wife Joyce of Hillsboro and Steven Hodges and his wife Mary Jo of Springfield, Missouri, 10 grandchildren, 23 great grandchildren and 24 great great grandchildren. Four sisters: Grace Bales of Harrison, Missouri, Mary Rhine of Phoenix, Arizona, Bellma Dake of Kansas City, Missouri and Reva Carbine of Menifee, California, one brother Earl McCort of Chillicothe, Missouri.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, one daughter Betty Joan Dunbar and one brother.
