Flossie L. Smith 83 of Mt. Pleasant passed away on Monday September 25, 2006 at the Mercy Hospital in Iowa City.
Funeral Services will be held on Thursday, September 28, 2006, at 10:00 a.m. at the Beatty-Murphy Funeral Home in Mt. Pleasant. Pastor Dylan Does will officiate. Friends may call after 2 p.m. on Wednesday where the family will be present from 6 to 8 p.m. A memorial has been established to the American Heart Association in her memory. Graveside Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday at the Union Cemetery at Memphis Missouri.
Flossie was born on June 19, 1923, in Adair County, Missouri the daughter of Morris & Mattie Lane Jeffery. She was united in marriage to Charles Smith on December 29, 1945 in Memphis Missouri. She had worked at Maple leaf Nursing Home and Wal Mart of Mt. Pleasant, and had done volunteer work at Old Threshers and Community Action all of Mt. Pleasant. She enjoyed sewing, putting puzzles together, doing all kinds of crafts, and camping. She enjoyed spending time with her family and friends. She was a member of the Grace Community Friends Church of Mt. Pleasant.
She is survived by her husband Charles of Mt. Pleasant, two daughters: Arlean Lucas and her husband Steve of Warsaw, IL, Roberta Jackson of Keokuk, Iowa. Ten grandchildren and twelve great grandchildren. One brother Harold Jeffery of Hamilton, IL and one sister Helen Byrn of Warsaw, IL.
She was preceded in death by her parents, one son Jimmy Dean and one great grandchild.
