Franklin Dean Stagner 81, of Mt. Pleasant passed away on Friday, November 19, 2010,at his home.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, November 24, 2010, at 10:30 a.m. at the Murphy Funeral Home in Mt. Pleasant with Pastor Deb Savage officiating. Burial will be in the Elm Grove Cemetery at Washington. Friends may call after 2 p.m. on Tuesday at the funeral home where the family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Memorials may be made to Iowa Hospice in his memory.
Dean was born on January 24, 1929 in New Philadelphia, Ohio the son of Cleo and Mildred Reid Stagner. He was united in marriage to Helen L. Humphrey on May 15, 1946, in Iowa City. He farmed and worked at Pork Technologies, Garretson and Cargill Seed Corn. He was a member of the Lockridge Rough Riders, Moose Lodge of Mt. Pleasant, Swinging S Square Dance Club, and the Eagles Club in Burlington. Dean had been a 4H leader. He enjoyed camping, horseback riding, square dancing and spending time with his family.
Dean is survived by his children: Deb Sammons (Harold) of Mt. Pleasant, Kathy Glattfelder (Terry) of Argyle and Lisa Barton (Todd) of Mt. Pleasant. nine grandchildren, one step grandson, ten great grandchildren. His sister: Joyce Christian (Bill) of Sibley, Missouri, two sisters-in-law Donna Jacobs (Wilbur) of Marion and Phyllis Humphrey of Mt. Pleasant, daughter-in-law: Marlene Stagner of Arkansas and his dear friend Lola Douglas of Lockridge.
Dean was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Helen, one son Steve, two daughters and one grand-daughter, one great grand-daughter, his brother Donald and a brother-in-law Jim.
