Fred F. Rauscher 71, of Lockridge passed away on Monday, June 14, 2010 at Mercy Hospital in Iowa City.
Memorial Services will be held on Thursday, June 17, 2010, at 10:30 a.m. at the Murphy Funeral Home in Mt. Pleasant with Rev. John Meyer officiating. Friends may call after 2 p.m. on Wednesday at the funeral home where the family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. A memorial has been established in his memory. Burial will be at a later date in the Lockridge Cemetery.
Fred was born on November 17, 1938, in Mt. Pleasant the son of Walter & Jessie Ford Rauscher. He was united in marriage to Joyce Smyth on November 21, 1964 in Fairfield, Iowa. Fred was a trucker hauling livestock, had worked at the Rauscher Seed House in Lockridge, he was a rural mail carrier in the Lockridge community for 30 years retiring in 1997. Fred enjoyed his horses, flowers, gardening and going for coffee. He belonged to the Rural Mail Carriers Association and the Quarter Horse Association.
Fred is survived by his wife Joyce of Lockridge, three sons, Russell (Heidi) of Cedar Rapids, John (Stacy) of York Penn. and Jessie (Michelle) of Fairfield. Five grandchildren: Eric, Danielle, Seth, Brandon and Madalyn. One brother: Bill (Cindy) of Lockridge, two sisters: Christine Rauscher of Naperville, IL and Mary Gates (Greg) of Iowa City.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
