George Wesely Obituary

George A. Wesely 91, of Lockridge passed away on Thursday, September 18, 2014, at Park Place Elder Living Center in Mt. Pleasant.

A Celebration of Life and Fellowship Service will be held on Saturday, September 27, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. at the Lockridge Community Center, in Lockridge. Burial will be in the Lockridge Cemetery at a later date and cremation has been accorded. Memorials may be directed to the Lockridge Fire and Rescue in his memory.

George was born on June 5, 1923, at Keosauqua, Iowa the son of Frank & Mary Cooper Wesely. George worked in the family stone quarry as a child in 1935, the family moved to Williamsburg and he helped on the farm, later the family moved to a farm south of Trenton. George was united in marriage to Lorna Jean Graff on March 26, 1948, in Iowa City; she preceded him in death on July 31, 2013. After his marriage they lived with his parents for a year before moving to the Elgar Farm, they farmed in the Trenton and White Oak area's and bought a farm northeast of Lockridge in 1964. He had worked for a summer for the CB & Q Railroad.

George is survived by his children; Mike Wesely (Marsha) of Lockridge, Dan Wesely (Kay) of Salem, Jackie McLachlan of Mt. Pleasant, Dennis Wesely (Julie), Curtus Wesely and Karla Schafer all of Lockridge; nine grandchildren and ten great grandchildren; three sisters; Dorothy Burton of Aurora, Illinois, Jane Gilson of Omaha, Nebraska, and Genieve Fetterman (Shorty) of Salem and two brothers: Mike Wesely (Florence) of Mt. Pleasant and Charlie Wesely of Salem.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, and three brothers: Paul, Frank Jr. (Joe), and John, three sisters: Priscilla, Erma Jean and Bertha.
