Glenn Schlatter Obituary

Glenn E. Schlatter 91 of Story City, Iowa and former resident of Mt. Pleasant passed away on Wednesday, August 22, 2007 at the Bethany Life Communities in Story City.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, August 25, 2007 at 10:00 a.m. at the First Baptist Church in Mt. Pleasant with Pastor Regan Stoops and Rev. Mel Brown officiating. Burial with military honors conducted by the Iowa National Guard will be in the Eicher Cemetery at Noble, Iowa. Friends may call after 2:00 p.m. on Friday, August 24 at the Beatty-Murphy Funeral Home in Mt. Pleasant where the family will be present form 6 to 8 p.m. A memorial has been established in his memory and may be left at the funeral home.

Glenn Edward Schlatter was born on March 25, 1916, at the farm home of his parents John & Nettie Eicher Schlatter southeast of Wayland, Iowa. He received his education at the Flowers Country School. Glenn was drafted into the Army in 1942 and served his country in Germany during WW II. He had worked in the Automotive industry most of his life. On April 10, 1947, Glenn was united in marriage to Jeanette Zickefoose in the home of Jeanette's parents. Glenn worked for Swailes Auto of Mt. Pleasant for 49 years through three generations of owners. As long as Jeanette's health permitted, they were very active at the First Baptist Church of Mt. Pleasant. He was very proud of the current building a process in which he was very active.

He is survived by his daughter Helen Friest and her husband Dennis of Radcliffe, and a son John Schlatter and his wife Lori of Hopkins, MN. His grandchildren: Brad and Jodi Friest of Roland, Iowa, Brent and Colette Friest of Radcliffe, Iowa, Brenda and Kendal Colvin of Pella, Iowa, and Nathan Schlatter of Hopkins, MN. Great Grandchildren: Michael, Madison, Mason, Sydney, Chase and Lainey Friest. His sister: Mabel Krehbiel of San Antonio, TX and a sister-in-law Wilma Barton of Springfield, MO and a host of nephews and nieces.

Glenn was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Jeanette and one brother Warren.
