Glenn H. Upton 72 of Mt. Pleasant passed away on Sunday, September 2, 2007 at the Henry County Health Center in Mt. Pleasant.
Funeral Services will be held on Thursday, September 6, 2007 at 2:00 p.m. at the Beatty-Murphy Funeral Home in Mt. Pleasant with the Rev. Jeffrey Crawford officiating. Burial with Full Military Honors conducted by the Henry County Honor Guard will be in the Forest Home Cemetery in Mt. Pleasant. Friends may call after 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday at the funeral home where the family will be present from 6 to 8 p.m. A memorial has been established in his memory.
Glenn was born on June 12, 1935 in Mt. Pleasant the son of Donald C. & June Hayward Upton. He was united in marriage to Adeline Jones on December 12, 1959, at St. Ignatius, Montana. He attended Richwood's Country School and graduated from Mt. Pleasant High School. Glenn attended the University of Montana and graduated from Iowa Wesleyan College with his teacher's degree. He was a substitute teacher at the Danville School system, He was an engineer for the Burlington Northern Railroad for a number of years before he retired. He served his country in the Marines. He enjoyed to write, read and was an avid Hawkeye fan. He was a member of the Veterans Club of Mt. Pleasant, National Smokejumpers Association of Montana and the NRA Association.
He is survived by his children: Denise Ritz and her husband Mike of Mt. Pleasant, Daniel and his wife Tammy of Arlee, Montana, Derric and his wife Becky of Missoula, Montana and Darren and his wife Annette of Ponca City, Oklahoma. Nine grandchildren. His brothers: Jim Upton and his wife Donna of Mt. Pleasant and Harold Upton and his wife Carolyn of Mountain Grove Missouri. His sisters: Sara Weschler, Anna Turner and Linda Stith and her husband Terry all of Mt. Pleasant.
Glenn was preceded in death by his parents, his wife in 2004, one brother John and one sister Elizabeth Ann in infancy.
