Goldie Cook Obituary
Goldie D. Cook, 81, of New London passed away on Monday, December 26, 2011, at her daughters home rural Salem.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, December 29, 2011, at the Murphy Funeral Home in Mt. Pleasant. The family will receive friends from 1 p.m. until time of the service on Thursday at the funeral home. Burial will be in the Burge Cemetery at New London. A memorial has been established in her memory.
Goldie was born on March 29, 1930, at Mediapolis, Iowa the daughter of Paul & Francis Sorber Jones. She was united in marriage to Lester Cook on September 28, 1951, at Council Bluffs, Iowa. He preceded her in death on February 18, 2009. She was a homemaker and had worked at the Glove Factory and Metromail. She enjoyed gardening, flowers and spending time with her grandchildren, she was of the Christian faith.
She is survived by her daughters: Leslie Johnson of Burlington and Julie Schlarbaum of Salem, four grandchildren: Shane Williams, Jerry Schlarbaum, Billy Schlarbaum and Candi Schlarbaum. Seven great grandchildren: Hannah, Brandon, Sydney, Hunter, Braydon, Jazi and Hope. Two sisters: Gloria Runyon of Burlington and Bonnie Davis of Davenport.
Goldie was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and son: Scott one sister: Darlene Lant.
