Helen L. Stagner 81 of Mt. Pleasant passed away on Thursday evening, November 12, 2009 at the University of Iowa Hospitals.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, November 18th at 10:30 a.m. at the Murphy Funeral Home in Mt. Pleasant. Burial will be in the Elm Grove Cemetery at Washington, Iowa. Friends may call after 2 p.m. on Tuesday at the funeral home where the family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. A memorial has been established in her name.
Helen was born on June 7, 1928, in Lancaster Missouri the daughter of John E. and Grace Tadlock Humphrey. She graduated from Wyman High School in 1946, and was united in marriage to Dean Stagner on May 15, 1946, in Iowa City. She helped her husband on the family farm and worked at Cargil Seed Corn. She belonged to the Lockridge Rough Riders, Women of the Moose of Mt. Pleasant, and Green Wood Women's Club. She enjoyed camping, traveling, her flower gardens, square dancing, genealogy and spending time with her family.
She is survived by her husband Dean and three daughters: Deb Sammons and her husband Harold of Mt. Pleasant Iowa, Kathy Glattfelder and her husband Terry of Argyle, Iowa and Lisa Barton and her husband Todd of Mt. Pleasant. 9 grandchildren, one step grandson 9 great grandchildren. one sister: Donna Jacobs and her husband Wilbur of Marion, Iowa, her daughter-in-law Marlene Stagner of Arkansas, sister-in-law: Phyllis Humphrey of Salem.
Helen was preceded in death by her parents, one son Steve, two daughters and one grand-daughter, one great grand-daughter and one brother Jim.
