Irene Molander Obituary
Irene Molander 96 of Winfield and formerly of the Olds community passed away on Saturday, June 16, 2007 at the Sunrise Terrace Care Center in Winfield.
Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday, June 20, 2007 at 10:30 a.m. at the Olds United Church of Christ with Revs. Carl & Elaine Vass officiating. Burial will be in the North Wayne Township Cemetery at Olds, Iowa. Friends may call after 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday at the Beatty-Murphy Funeral Home in Mt. Pleasant where the family will be present from 4 to 8 p.m. Memorials have been established to the Olds United Church of Christ or to the Sunrise Terrace Memory Gardens Fund.
Irene was born on June 3, 1911 at Big Cliff Kentucky the daughter of William B. & Ida Mae Hatfield Hart. She was united in marriage to Carl T. Molander on July 3, 1931 at Burlington, Iowa. She graduated from New London High School. She and her husband farmed in the Crawfordsville area for a number of years. She was a member of the Olds United Church of Christ where she had been very active teaching Sunday school, Sunday School Superintendent. She and her husband enjoyed to square dance for a number of years.
She is survived by her children: Julie Leichty of Kalona, Iowa, and Doris Miller of Geneva, Iowa, and Allen Molander of Crawfordsville, Iowa. 10 grandchildren, 20 great grandchildren and 4 great great grandchildren. One sister Mildred Nichols of Louisville, Kentucky.
She is preceded in death by her parents, husband, one grand-daughter Kathy Leichty and one great grand-daughter Jennifer Warren. Three brothers: Ronald, Marvin and Robert Hart and two sisters: Edith Lauger and Wanda Goode.
