Jack Moore Obituary

Jack Lewis Moore, 78 of rural Bloomfield, Iowa, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Thursday, July 6, 2023, surrounded by his loving family.

Jack was born at his rural Pulaski home on April 12, 1945, the son of James Lewis and Lorrayne (Rowland) Moore. It was there that Jack's lifelong love for farming and the love of the outdoors began. On June 6, 1969, Jack married the love of his life, Nellie Mae Carlson at the New Sweden United Methodist Church at Four Corners, Iowa. Together they enjoyed 54 years of marriage, filled with love, laughter, and adventure.

Jack enjoyed golfing and had even made part of his yard into mini golf course. He was known as a jokester, a great story teller, drinking coffee with his friends and learning the current events for the day. Jack was always willing to help anyone who needed help regardless who you were, and would give anything a "whirl". He drove a truck for Hoskins Farm Supply before going out on his own, and later in life drove for the Amish. He was a first responder in the Bloomfield area. He enjoyed listening to gospel music and was a member of the Stiles Christian Church.

He is survived by his loving wife, Nell of rural Bloomfield, and his children, Jacquelyn Moore of Johnstown, Colorado, Jeanne (Joel) Illian of Burlington, Judee (Rusty) Zook of Highland Center, Iowa and Jay Moore of rural Bloomfield. He also leaves behind his adoring grandchildren, Ashlyn (Anthony) Carrasco, Haelee Zook, Emi Zook, Jaeger Illian, Izaiah Illian, Hannah Illian, Donner Illian, Madison Illian, Kalia Illian and Eison Illian, his two brothers, Jim (Joyce) Moore of Illinois and Pat (Kelly) Moore of Pulaski, one sister-in-law, Ginger Moore of Bloomfield and a brother-in-law, Charles Blakely of Richland, along with several nieces and nephews, his aunt, Evelyn Steddom and his loving dog "Jang".

He was preceded in death by his parents, his brothers, Owen Moore, Terry Moore, Chuck Moore and one sister Jane Blakely.

A celebration of Jack's life will be held on Friday, July 14, 2023, at 10:00 a.m. at the Stiles Christian Church rural Bloomfield with Pastor Kramer Smith officiating. The family will receive friends on Thursday, July 13, 2023 from 4 to 7 p.m. at the church. Private family burial will be held in the Inskeep Cemetery, rural Bloomfield. A memorial has been established in his memory. Murphy Funeral Home of Mt. Pleasant is caring for Jack's arrangements.
