James Edwin “Jim” Gerleman, 73, of Lockridge passed away at his home on Thursday, July 4, 2024, surrounded by his family.
Jim was born on September 18, 1950, the son of Edwin A. and Darlene (Stevens) Gerleman. Jim graduated from Fairfield High School in the class of 1969. Following high school he went on to work for the City of Mt. Pleasant. He then went to work for La Fulton Construction of Des Moines until his retirement in 2014. Jim was united in marriage to Diane Copeland; they later divorced.
He is survived by his children, Phil Gerleman of Lockridge, Chris Gerleman of New London and Kelly (Winsor) Hemmie of Lockridge, his grandchildren, Miles, Emily, Alyssa, Levi and Nova, his great grandchildren, Bubba, Presley Jo and Micah, his brothers, Thomas (Kim) Gerleman of Lockridge, Ronald (Krista) Gerleman of Lockridge, his sisters, Ann (Jerry) Johnson, of Nixa, Missouri, Kathy (John) Kessel, of Fairfield, Barb (Larry) Neff, of Lockridge, and Sandra (Steve) Spees of Birmingham, his companion, Myrna Randall along with several nieces and nephews.
Jim was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, Robert Gerleman and his grandparents, Leo and Lorraine Gerleman.
Private family graveside services will be at the Upland Cemetery, rural Lockridge, with Father Ross Epping officiating. Jim’s family will receive friends on Wednesday, July 10, 2024 from 9:00 a.m. until 11:00 am at the Murphy Funeral Home in Mt. Pleasant. Friends may call at the funeral home on Tuesday, July 9, 2024 from 2 to 7 p.m.; the family will not be present. A memorial has been established in his memory.
