James Prottsman Obituary

James H. Prottsman, 77 of Mt. Pleasant passed away on Monday, April 5, 2010
at the Henry County Health Center in Mt. Pleasant.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, April 9th at 10:30 am from St. Alphonsus Catholic Church with Father Apo Mpanda officiating. Following the services his body will be cremated. Friends may call after 2 p.m. on Thursday at the Murphy Funeral Home in Mt. Pleasant with the family present from 6 to 8 p.m. A memorial has been established in his memory.

Jim was born on April 30, 1932, in Mt. Pleasant the son of Harry Edward & Kathryn Frederica Pardall Prottsman. He attended Pleasant Grove School and graduated from Mt. Pleasant High School. He then went on to attend Iowa Wesleyan College majoring in math. He was united in marriage to Mary Hoover on February 6, 1954 in Mt. Pleasant. He served in the National Guard from 1950 to 1959.

He owned Jim Prottsman Construction Company, Prottsman Realty, and was a Superintendent for Vauhter & Walter Construction of Des. Moines. He was a member of St. Alphonsus Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus, Noon Rotary, Mt. Pleasant Moose Lodge, Avenue of the Saints Wood Working Club, Master Gardeners and was President of Baltimore Rider Saddle Club.

He is survived by his wife Mary of Mt. Pleasant, sons: Steven his wife Martha of Algona, Michael his wife Diane of Mt. Pleasant, Anthony of St. Paul, Minn. and his daughter: Tracy Beasley her husband Jim of Mt. Pleasant. 7 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother Eugene.
