Joseph E. Olden, 89, of Winfield and former resident of Salem passed away on Tuesday, July 4, 2006 at the Sunrise Terrace Care Center in Winfield.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, July 7, 2006 at 10:30 a.m. from the Beatty-Murphy Funeral Home in Mt. Pleasant. Rev. Harold Dorsey will officiate. The family will receive friends from 9:30 on Friday until service time at the funeral home. Burial will be in the Salem South Cemetery. Military honors will be conducted by the Henry County Honor Guard. A memorial has been established and may be lefted at the funeral home.
Joe was born on August 14, 1916, at Lone Elm KS the son of Edwin & Susie Blanford Olden. On June 20, 1946, he married Sadie Payne in Baldwin, KS. He served his country in the Army during WWII. Joe farmed west of Salem, had worked at Heatilator in Mt. Pleasant and managed the Laundromat in Salem.
He is survived by one daughter Sue Messer and her husband Chuck of Winfield and one son Floyd Olden and his wife Kathy of Nixa, MO. Three grandchildren and three great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, and one daughter in infancy, one brother and one sister.
