June Upton Helm 93, of Mt. Pleasant passed away on Tuesday evening, August 1, 2006, at Park Place in Mt. Pleasant.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, August 5, 2006, at 10:30 a.m. at the Beatty-Murphy Funeral Home in Mt. Pleasant. Pastor Duke Crawford will officiate. Friends may call after 1p.m. on Friday, August 4, 2006, at the Beatty-Murphy Funeral Home where the family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Burial will be Richwood Cemetery rural Mt. Pleasant. A memorial has been established in her memory to the Richwood Cemetery.
June was born on August 20, 1912, in Mt. Pleasant the daughter of Harry & Esther Harrod Hayward. On September 10, 1929 she married Donald C. Upton. Together they farmed until his death in 1965. She went to work at the Henry County Hospital as a nurse's aid for 10 years. On July 20, 1969, she married George Helm; he preceded her in death in 1993. She enjoyed watching the birds, baking, and quilting in which she had made 21 quilts all by hand. Most of all her family was very important to her. Later in life her passion was to eat at Jerry's Restaurant. She was a member of the West Point Presbyterian Church.
She is survived by 4 sons: John Upton and his wife Dorothy of Phoenix AZ, Jim Upton and his wife Donna and Glenn Upton all of Mt. Pleasant. Harold Upton and his wife Carolyn of Mountain Grove Mo. 3 daughters: Sara Weschler, Anna Turner and Linda Stith and her husband Terry all of Mt. Pleasant. 21 grandchildren, 32 great grandchildren and 3 great great grandchildren. One brother Rolland Hayward of Prescott Valley AZ.
She was preceded in death by her parents, both husbands, one daughter infancy Elizabeth Ann, two grandsons Tom Weschler and Timothy Stith, two sisters Annette Sorenson and Melvina Hayward. Five brothers, Don, Matt, Glenn, Spencer and Bill and a half brother Charles. One daughter-in-law Adeline Upton.
