Kenneth H. Boge-Johnson 57 of Crawfordsville, Iowa passed away on Sunday, August 19, 2007 at his home after an extended battle with cancer.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, August 22, 2007 at 10:00 a.m. from the New Song Episcopal Church in Coralville, Iowa with the Rev. Elizabeth Coulter. Burial with full military honors will held in the Crawfordsville Cemetery. Friends may call from 2 to 8 p.m. at the family home in Crawfordsville on Tuesday, August 21, 2007. A memorial has been established in his memory. There will be no visitation at the Beatty-Murphy Funeral Home of Mt. Pleasant.
Ken was born on October 18, 1949, in Dyersville, Iowa the son of Eugene (Pete) & Mary Huberty Boge He attended Parochial Schools and graduated from Beckman High School in 1967. He joined the U.S. Navy in 1968 and served until his discharge in 1972. He then went on to the University of New York Upholstery Trade School and graduated in 1974, and owned shops in Houston Texas and Parson Kansas for many years. After moving back to Iowa in 1996 he worked for JD Leather in Coralville till 2004. On September 25, 2000 he was united in Holy Covenant with Terry Johnson at New Song Episcopal Church in Coralville. They have been foster parents and have welcomed 15 children into their home.
He is survived by his life companion Terry, his son James Boge-Johnson and two daughters: Jalissa & Jasmine all of Crawfordsville. His father Pete Boge of Dyersville, Iowa, three sisters: Judy Wilhelm and Marla Schmitt both Dyersville, Iowa and Beverly Engelken of New Vienna, Iowa. four brothers: Steve Boge of Clear Lake, Iowa, Bruce Boge of Garland Texas, Brian Boge of Dyersville, Iowa and Neal Boge of Garland Texas. Numerous nieces and nephews.
Ken is preceded in death by his mother.
The family wishes to thank the doctors and staff of the Oncology and Urology Departments at the Veterans Hospital in Iowa City and the staff of the Radiation Department at the University of Iowa Hospitals for their excellent treatments and compassion.
