Kenneth Hill Obituary

Kenneth R. Hill 89, of Mt. Pleasant passed away on Monday, November 17, 2014, at Great River Hospice House in West Burlington.

Funeral services will be held Friday at 2:00 p.m. November 21, 2014, at the Murphy Funeral Home with Pastor Deb Savage officiating. Burial with military honors will be in the White Oak Cemetery. Friends may call after 2 p.m. on Thursday at the Murphy Funeral Home where the family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Memorials may be directed to the White Oak Cemetery Association or to the Veterans of Foreign Wars.

Kenneth was born on April 19, 1925, west of Trenton the son of John & Bertha Christner Hill. He served his country during World War Two in the Army and was united in marriage to Mildred "Jinx" Miller on July 7, 1948. Kenneth was always up for an adventure owner and operator of several businesses, farmer in the Trenton and Oakland Mills areas. He was a member of the American Legion, Mt. Pleasant Moose, and V.F. W. and had served on the White Oak Cemetery Board. Kenneth was an avid Cubs fan.

He is survived by his wife of Mt. Pleasant, his children: Roger (Nancy) Hill of Wayland, Connie (Ron) Calhoun of Raymondville, Missouri, Russell (Jackie) Hill of New London, Kathy Hay of Washington State, Daniel (Julie) Hill of New London, Cindy (Jim) Hilton of Mt. Pleasant and Penny McCoy (Curt Ramirez) of Des Moines; 17 grandchildren, 26 great grandchildren and 2 great great-grandchildren; one brother Stan Hill of Mt. Pleasant; two sisters: Florence Wesley and Melva Sammons both of Mt. Pleasant.

He was preceded in death by his parents, one son-in-law David Hay, four brothers: Max, Lester, Jay and Carl and 2 sisters: Mina Crile and Leola Whitney.
