Kenneth W. Messer, 78, of Hillsboro passed away on Sunday, March 1, 2015, at Pleasant Manor Care Center in Mt. Pleasant.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, March 4, 2015, at 10:30 a.m. at the Hillsboro Christian Church in Hillsboro with Pastor D.J. Meyer officiating. Burial will be in the Hillsboro Cemetery. Friends may call after 2 p.m. on Tuesday at the Murphy Funeral Home in Mt. Pleasant where the family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. A memorial has been established his memory.
Kenneth was born on January 17, 1937, at Four Corners, Iowa, the son of William & Mary Voila Jeffrey Messer. He was united in marriage to Ruth Reinier on December 9, 1957 in Salem. Kenneth worked at Heatilator in Mt. Pleasant, Mickey Plaster and retired from Antenna Craft of West Burlington. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, and gardening and mushrooming, he also made fishing poles and spending time with his family.
Kenneth is survived by his wife Ruth of Hillsboro, and his children; Wayne Messer, Mark (Kathy) Messer both of Lowell, Joe Messer of Hillsboro and Joyce (Dan) Winterberg of Mt. Pleasant, 4 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren; one brother, Elgie Messer of Yelm, Washington and one sister, Carrie Halloway of Dixon. Illinois.
He was preceded in death by his parents and four brothers.
