Laura DeSpain Obituary
Laura Lynn DeSpain, 55, of Salem passed away on Sunday, June 18, 2023, at her home.
Laura was born on March 8, 1968, the daughter of Brian and Roberta J. (Woodsmall) DeSpain.
She was united in marriage to Bobby Skaggs in 1987, they later divorced. Laura was an amazing person, who was like a mother to all. She had a love of crafting and loved to give those projects away to family and friends. She enjoyed reading, going to the casino and her Pepsi and Snickers candy bars. Spending time with her family was the most important thing in her life. She worked at Walmart in Mt. Pleasant for 18 years before she had to retire due to health reasons.
She is survived by her children, Michael (Tiffany) Skaggs of Ottumwa, Megan (Alvaro) Reyes-Urizar and Amanda DeSpain (Chris Prospere) all of Mt. Pleasant, 14 grandchildren and one great grandchild, two brothers, Chad DeSpain of Florida, Brian DeSpain, Jr., of Texas and one sister, Tara DeSpain of Florida and her grandmother Anna Woodsmall of Salem.
Laura was preceded in death by her parents, one sister, Tami Marie DeSpain and her grandfather.
A celebration of Laura's life will be hosted by her family at a later time. According to her wishes cremation has been entrusted to the care of Murphy Funeral Home of Mt. Pleasant.
