Leah A. Rhum, 89, of Mt. Pleasant passed away on Friday, March 6, 2015, at the Henry County Health Center.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, March 10, 2015, at the Murphy Funeral Home in Mt. Pleasant with Pastor Aaron Helterbran officiating. Burial will be in the Pleasant Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Monday from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Murphy Funeral Home in Mt. Pleasant. A memorial has been established to the Pleasant Hill Cemetery in her memory.
Leah was born on October 29, 1925, in Henry County the daughter of Warren Edward & Donnie Mae Krekel Detrick. She was united in marriage to Claude Rhum on March 30, 1944, in Mt. Pleasant. She helped her father run the sawmill, later she and Claude tock over the operation, she was alongside of her husband in the farming operation as well. She worked for the Iowa Army Ammunition Plant in Middletown, Sylvania of Burlington and later for Metromail of Mt. Pleasant. Leah enjoyed spending time with her family especially her grandchildren.
She is survived by her husband Claude of Mt. Pleasant, and her children; Kenneth (Sharon) Rhum of Mt. Pleasant, Connie Rhum, David Rhum and Collen (Rich) Ross all of Burlington, Bruce (Deb) Rhum of Mt. Pleasant and Mike (Terri) Rhum of Bloomfield; 18 grandchildren, 28 great grandchildren and 1great great grandchid; one sister Frances Anthony of Davenport.
Leah was preceded in death by her parents, one grandson; Aaron Ross, two brothers; Rex and Walt, five sisters; Nellie, Mayme, Mary, Fern and Wilma, four infant siblings.
