Leo E. Haines, 60, of Brighton passed away on Saturday, November 18, 2023, at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City.
Leo was born on April 15, 1963, in Fairfield the son of Ernest W. and Mabel Elna (Moyers) Haines. Leo was united in marriage to Georgia Wilmes on August 8, 2008 at Morris Park. Leo worked for Wally Brokken, Dexter Foundry, Schaus-Vorhies of Fairfield and later Graber Services of Lockridge. He was an avid outdoorsman, enjoyed mushroom hunting and hunting. He enjoyed playing cards and square dancing. Most of all he enjoyed spending time with his family.
He is survived by his wife, Georgia, of Brighton, daughter, Missy McNicholas, of Galesburg, five grandchildren, Tallen (Genna) McWilliams, Kelsey (Jacob) Young, Molly McCants, Maci McCants and Jackson McNicholas, two great grandchildren, Kaizer McWilliams and Charlotte Young, two brothers, Bill (Bettye) Haines, Ron (Heidi) Haines and one sister, Elna Haines all of Fairfield, along with several nieces and nephews.
Leo was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters, Karla Harvey and Janet Sutter.
Leo’s family will receive friends on Saturday, November 25, 2023, from 5 to 7 p.m. that evening at the Murphy Funeral Home of Mt. Pleasant. A memorial has been established in his memory. A celebration of Leo’s life will be held at a later date. According to his wishes cremation has been entrusted to the care of Murphy Funeral Home of Mt. Pleasant.
