Leona Sanderson Obituary
Leona M. Sanderson, 95, of Hillsboro passed away on Tuesday, January 12, 2016, at Arbor Court in Mt. Pleasant.
Graveside services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, January 15, 2016, at the Hillsboro Cemetery Hillsboro, Iowa. A memorial has been established in her memory.
Leona was born on October 5, 1920, in Van Buren County the daughter of Ray and Linnet B. Slutz Barnett. She was united in marriage to Leo W. Sanderson on May 31, 1937; he preceded her in death on May 2, 1978. Leona was a wonderful cook and a very loving and kind lady. She enjoyed spending time with her family, and she was a member of the Hillsboro Baptist Church in Hillsboro.
She is survived by her children; Carolyn Haynes (Jesse) of Hillsboro and Darrell Sanderson (Judy) of Douds; numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great-grandchildren; 4 sisters; Mary Louise Faught of Douds, Charlotte Wallerich of Danville, Beulah Schilling of Fairfield and Margaret Workman of Fairfield.
Leona was preceded in death by her parents, husband, 2 sons Nathan Eugene Sanderson and Kenneth Willard Sanderson, two sisters and four brothers.
