Lila attended elementary school at Worthington, Mo. and high school at Unionville, Mo.

She married Frank Lester Deierling on June 1, 1945 at Queen City, Mo. This June Frank and Lila would have celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary. They moved to Buffalo, Iowa in 1952 where they have lived for 57 years.

Judith and Dennis have two daughters; Amanda and Alecia. Alecia and her husband Joshua Sharback have a son Noah. She is also survived by three sisters; Deannie Smith, Ann Petersen and Linda Davis. Two life long friends, Betty Ledford and Ruth Sprague, and childhood friend, Rose Lee Trammel, also survive. Many nieces and nephews will remember that special bond they shared with their Aunt Lila.

Lila was preceded in death by her parents, two sisters, Arvella and Margery, one brother Donavan Tade and a beloved grandson, Tade Spencer Geeding.

Lila was a member of the Buffalo Friends Church and was very active in the USFW Missionary Society of the Iowa Yearly Meeting of Friends. She and her friend, Ruth Sprague, were responsible for countless church bazaars, Mother-Daughter banquets and church dinners--always competing to provide the best rolls, desserts or casseroles. Church 4th of July floats and Halloween parties at the church provided a great opportunity for Lila to exhibit her love of theatre. Along with this love of food and great cooking, Lila and Ruth Sprague spent many hours operating the Buffalo food pantry.

Lila was a very generous and colorful person with many talents. She loved crocheting and was an avid reader. Each thing she undertook she did with perfectionism. She was an over 50-year lifetime member of the Davenport Eastern Star Chapter 178. Lila was a Cub Scout den leader for several years. When her children were in school, she enjoyed participating in the PTA and has always encouraged her family in their education.

Her greatest love was her family, friends, and cooking. There was no recipe she could not conquer and improve. She decorated many wedding cakes for friends and family in the community and improved many a home with her decorating abilities.

Visitation for Lila will be from 4:00- 7:00 p.m. on Friday, March 5, at the Halligan McCabe DeVries Funeral Home, 614 Main Street, Davenport, Iowa with the funeral service held there at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, March 6, 2010. Burial will be at Rose Hill Cemetery in Buffalo, Iowa.

Memorials have been established to the Buffalo Public Library, Buffalo, Iowa. A memorial is also established for Park Place LTCU, 401 South Van Buren, Mount Pleasant, Iowa to provide birdfeeders and an outdoor park bench.

Lila leaves behind many accomplishments and a rich legacy. Most importantly she leaves behind family and friends who have been blessed to know her. No family could ask for more than the love she gave us. Our hearts are heavy with loss but we are left with beautiful memories and traditions. Until we meet again!
