Lorna Jean Wesely 85, of Lockridge passed away on Wednesday, July 31, 2013, at Mercy Hospital in Iowa City.
The family will receive friends on Sunday, August 4, 2013, from 2 to 4 p.m. at the Murphy Funeral Home in Mt. Pleasant. There will be no funeral service. Burial will be in the Lockridge Cemetery at a later date and cremation has been accorded. Memorials may be directed to the Lockridge Fire and Rescue in her memory.
Lorna was born on March 17, 1928, in Burlington the daughter of Dillon & Nina Spangler Graff. She graduated from Mt. Pleasant High School. Lorna was united in marriage to George Wesely on March 26, 1948, in Iowa City. She had worked at Sheaffer Pen Company in Mt. Pleasant for several years. She and her husband farmed in the Trenton and White Oak area, and later bought their own farm northeast of Lockridge in 1964. She was a member of the New Sweden United Methodist Church and enjoyed cooking and spending time with her family.
Lorna is survived by her husband George of Lockridge and her children; Mike Wesely (Marsha) of Lockridge, Dan Wesely (Kay) of Salem, Jackie McLachlan of Mt. Pleasant, Dennis Wesely (Julie), Curtus Wesely and Karla Schafer all of Lockridge; nine grandchildren and eight great grandchildren; two sisters; Betty Ross of Mt. Pleasant and Glenda Bottorff of Adel.
She was preceded in death by her parents and one brother Gerald.
