Lucille Hudson, 91, of Des Moines and formerly of Hillsboro, passed away on Thursday, November 16, 2023, at the Westview Care Center in Indianola.
Lucille was born on December 8, 1931, in Henry County, Iowa the daughter of Henry E. and Mazie W. (Horning) Manning. She was united in marriage to Jack Hudson on April 18, 1953, at the Little Brown Church at Nashua. He preceded her in death on December 30, 2022. Lucille was a cook for a number of years with the Harmony School District. She loved to cook, work in her flower beds and garden. She sold Avon and was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary and the Alpha Club. Jack and Lucille enjoyed going to garage sales and attending Midwest Old Threshers. Lucille cherished the time she spent with her family.
Lucille is survived by her children, Beverly (Donald) Schier, of Burlington, Debbie Nash, of Circle Pines, Minnesota, Penny Hudson, of Des Moines and Rick (Joyce) Hudson, of Bradenton, Florida, 7 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren, her three sisters, Mary Ann Dupree, Barbara Schenk both of Mt. Pleasant and Charlene Ragan of California.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, a grandson, Blake Nash, two brothers, James Manning and Earl Manning and three sisters, Darlene Magdefrau, Frances Magdefrau and Kay Carey.
Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday, November 22, 2023, at 11:00 a.m. at the Murphy Funeral Home of Mt. Pleasant. The family will receive friends from 10 until service time. Burial will follow in the Cottonwood Cemetery, rural Wayland, Iowa. In lieu of flowers memorials may be directed to Midwest Old Threshers of Mt. Pleasant.
