Marcelene Jordan Obituary
Marcelene L. Jordan 93, of the Danville Care Center and formerly of Mt. Pleasant passed away on Friday, June 22, 2012, at the Great River Hospice House in West Burlington.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, June 26, 2012, at 11:00 a.m. at the Murphy Funeral Home in Mt. Pleasant with Rev. Regan Stoops officiating. Friends may call from 1 to 6 p.m. on Monday at the Murphy Funeral Home. The family will receive friends from 10 a.m. until service time on Tuesday at the Murphy Funeral Home. Burial will be in the Forest Home Cemetery in Mt. Pleasant. In lieu of flowers memorials may be directed to the Danville Care Center or to the Great River Hospice House in her memory.
Marcelene was born on August 19, 1918, in Marion Township, the daughter of Andrew J. & Fannie F. Ford Brownell. She was united in marriage to Robert L. Jordan on October 25, 1938, he preceded her in death. She helped her husband on the family farm south of Mt. Pleasant and lived on the farm until she retired and moved to Mt. Pleasant. She enjoyed going to the Senior Citizens Center and dancing. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Mt. Pleasant.
She is survived by her children: Jerry (Bonnie) Jordan and Joyce Jordan all of West Burlington, three grandchildren: Randy (Diane) Jordan, Craig (Carrie) Jordan and Julie (Andy) Jordan; five great grandchildren: Jennifer (Darren) Jordan, Jody (Michelle) Jordan, Jessica Jordan, Dustin Jordan and Eli Jordan; and two great great grandchildren: Layla Jordan and Stella Jordan.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, two sisters: Erma Swailes and Ruth Penn, and one brother: Everett Brownell.
